How I relate to others about SOPA and PIPA

January 18, 2012

Today, I attended the New York Tech Meetup rally against SOPA and PIPA bills. There was such a large turnout of people and it was reported that 2,000+ people have showed up.

While at the rally, I was approached by numerous people who asked if I would like to do an interview and answer some questions. I wanted to tell my story and how SOPA and PIPA will not only affect me but everyone else.

The most common question I was asked was my thoughts on the SOPA and PIPA bills in which my response was: "I live in the United States, not China. There is no reason for our government to censor the Internet. These laws will not effectively solve the problem they are supposedly trying to solve."

Another question I  [Read More]

Please take a more active role in opposing SOPA and PIPA

January 12, 2012

I encourage everyone to take a more active role in opposing the current legislature written in SOPA and PIPA bills. The current bills will do more harm than good.

With that being said, I would like to see Google take a more active role in their opposition of SOPA and PIPA.

Many people are calling for websites to participate in a blackout on January 18th. However, we all know it is not wise for Google do participate in such an act. Google will lose millions in ad revenue, their stock will go crashing down, they will face lawsuits, etc.

Here is my proposal of what actions Google can take for USA users...

1. Google is known for its simple homepage and therefore, I propose that Google turns the background color of their page black and [Read More]

Map Box.net drive on Mac and Windows

December 07, 2011

Its been a while since I last posted.

I just wanted to share a useful tip for those that use Box.net (now Box.com). I was able to get myself a 50GB Box.net account for free and have began to use it more along with Dropbox.

If you have noticed, Box.net is very similar to Dropbox except that it costs money to upgrade to get the seamless syncing like Dropbox has.

There is no reason to pay for these apps as you can simply map the Box.net account to a drive on your Mac or Windows computer.

How to map box.net drive on Mac:
1. Open up finder
2. Go to the Go menu and select "Connect to Server"
3. In the server address enter - http://box.com/dav
4. Press the + sign to add to favorite servers
5. Connect an [Read More]

My first hackathon experience

August 04, 2011

At the start of my summer, I decided to attend a hackathon because it is something I have been wanting to do for a long time. The chance to meet and work with a bunch of talented people was really exciting.

For my first hackathon ever, I decided to attend TechCrunch Disrupt in NYC.

I did not know what to expect so I went in with the thought of working on my own project. I was going to do something as simply as rewrite my entire portfolio website (this site) but that seemed boring. I then thought about working on my social music site and recruiting others to help but I decided not to because Twitter has lost my trust as a developer.

I was approached by a fellow hacker named Omar, who ha [Read More]

I feel betrayed

March 13, 2011

Twitter,

What happened to you? I feel betrayed.

You used to be a great service that was open to developers to use your API and create awesome businesses and tools around. You had such a hands off approach that you allow our imagination to run wild.

With your latest changes to your TOS, you now limit our imagination and dictate what we can and cannot develop. So what if I want to create another Twitter client? You claim that 90% of Twitter users already use the official application so why do you feel threatened by me?

You claim you want to limit fragmentation in the Twitter experience but what if I think my Twitter experience using your official application is terrible? Why am I not allowed to improve it for myself?
